Nokia N800 Internet Tablet

Thursday, May 10th, 2007

The Nokia N800 internet tablet is the update to the N770 which didn’t make it to Australian shores and as yet there seems to be no word as to whether the N800 will either.

Video Review of the N800:

The N800 uses an open source Linux-based operating system so there will no doubt be loads of third party software written, see maemo for an array of open source software for internet tablets. The N800 isn’t a phone although calls can be made over WiFi via Skype or Google Talk VoIP calls.

Considering it isn’t a phone and not likely to be taken up by the telcos, thus no handset rebates, and the low availablity and quality of WiFi in Australia (compared to O/S) personally I’d be looking at phones like the Samsung Blackjack or Nokia N95 as being a better all round choice. Although it looks like it does what it says it does well.

Nokia 5300

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006

The Nokia 5300 is the latest release of Music Phones from Nokia. Carrying the XpressMusic badge, this phone is built for music lovers with dedicated music keys on the handset rather than having to labor through menus to skip, repeat etc tracks.

The Nokia 5300 also has expandable memory up to 2GB which is a boot load of tracks, somewhere around 500, and with that sort of memory it starts to make an ipod look a little boring! The handset also has a 2.5mm audio jack to directly plug in your favorite set of headphones or, what’s even better is the phone is compatible with bluetooth stereo headsets for music without wires. Nokia make a bluetooth stereo headset that can easily switch between music and calls which also folds up to a neat size.

The Nokia 5300 is a very neat slider style phone packed with features and bound to be an iPod killer. (more…)
