Apple iPhone – an iPod mobile?

Friday, October 20th, 2006

There has been a lot of talk recently about Apple taking their succesful iPod product to the next level by releasing a ‘music phone’. Sales of mp3 compatible mobile phones with inbuilt music player software and expandable storage have been strong and no doubt chipping into Apple’s iPod sales.

Think about it, they have to. Carrying an iPod and a mobile phone around is a real drag, then add the fact that you’ve got two battery lifes to worry about, two chargers to misplace and when your listening to tunes on your iPod your phone has to be pretty handy to not miss a call.
Sony Ericsson has really jumped on this with the w700i and w800i along with Nokia announcing the 5500 sport music addition. Considering on one of these you can play games, listen to tunes, radio and talk, txt, mms to freinds they make a whole heap more sense.

Apple has probably been a little slow to get something into the market place before the mobile phone makers take hold. Although with Apple’s reputation and strong brand, if they did release an iPhone mobile phone cross iPod device there would probably be a good line up of people wanting one. Particulary with Apple’s ability to innovate.

Could this be the next ipod mobile iphone?
