A Trick With Class That Will Amaze Everyone, Disappearing Coin
Tuesday, July 27th, 2010
Everyone will have heard mention of the vanishing coin trick at some stage. Here is a very simple and effective version that anyone can perform well with just a little practice. A secret person is need to achieve this version of the trick.
For the trick to start:
There are a few things needed for this; an assistant, two identical coins, a shirt with a pocket in the front and a handkerchief. For starters you need to have a coin in either your partners pocket or your pocket. Take a coin from your shirt and make the audience look at it, pretend you chose it randomly. Take the handkerchief and cover your hand and the coin. Practicing this a little will ensure it looks professional. Now you ask the audience, “Will anyone assist me? The coin should still be in my hand could you please reach under the handkerchief to make sure of this.” It does not have to be your partner that you call first to check the coin. Whether you choose someone else first before you choose your partner to feel for the coin it will not matter.
The grand finale:
When your secret partner checks for the coin, they actually pretend to just touch the coin to verify it is still there but instead they secretly take the coin, hiding it from the audience. Discretion is needed while taking the coin so that no one suspects your secret friend of lying and actually having the coin.
The coin has now magically disappeared and you can ramble off some magical phrases pulling the handkerchief away to reveal nothing. You can proclaim, “Wait a minute, where is the coin?” Searching in your pocket you are looking for your coin everywhere. Now everyone can be asked to look for the coin. Now amazingly the coin has appeared in your partner’s hand, it was in their pocket. Or, you might just reach into your secret partner’s pocket and pull the coin out saying, “Look, it jumped into your pocket!”
The second version of the same trick:
Before this version of the disappearing coin trick is performed some preparation is needed. Glue the coin on the bottom of the back of a playing card. Make it look like the coin is not stuck on the card when you present it by pretending to balance it. Keep your other hand under the card as if you were waiting to catch the coin when it slips off the card.
Make it look like the coin has been taken by your other hand by turning the card and coin over onto your other opened hand. Making certain that the coin has not slipped off the card put them both into your pocket without anyone noticing that the coin is still on it.
You now supposedly have the coin in your hand so you can say some magic words and wave your other hand over it opening it to reveal the coin is gone. There is no coin in your hand it looks like it has gone.
