Apple Iphone released

Wednesday, January 10th, 2007

The Apple Iphone was officially released at the San Francisco Macworld conference and as you would expect there’s quite a lot of buzz goin on.

All I can say is WOW this is a really cool looking handset, the interface kind of almost looks like a web2.0 design for a website! All reports are saying revolutionary, but is it? I guess I’ll have to wait until I can get hold of one which reports say the Iphone to be available in Australia very soon.

Looking at the specs this phone will be cool due to huge storage capacity, intuitive interface with impressive management of tracks, phone contacts, sms etc.

What else is cool is the handling of email via pop 3 which is not to new on a phone although if you are using Yahoo Mail then emails can be automatically pushed to the handset. A cool interface for easily making use of Google maps for mobile is also provided.

Apparently the web browser is one of the best to be seen but, and you’ve been waiting for some bad news right, well get this – quad-band GSM, EDGE capable. Yep, slow and useless internet connectivity, no 3g model, although it does have inbuilt WiFi which could be it’s saving grace. So at the end of the day you’ll need two accounts, one for your mobile access and one for WiFi access to get the most out of the really cool capabilities of this handset. Although depending on the price point, (some suggesting 450-600) it could still be a nokia or sony music phone killer.

See Apple.com for a cool site showing off all the features.
